The blue field, on which the yellow trident is placed, represents the blue sky over Ukraine with its vast lands.

The soaring yellow wheat silhouetted against this sky represents the country's role as a producer of grain. The colors in the Ukrainian flag are officially designated as Blue PMS 281 and Yellow PMS 116.
