Chimborazo

Chimborazo flag

Chimborazo is a stratovolcano in the Andes on the border of Ecuador and Bolivia, about 20 miles (32 km) south of the equator. It is not only the highest mountain in Ecuador but also has several other distinctions:

  • Chimborazo is considered by some to be the farthest point from Earth's center (the distance to the center of our planet being 6,384 kilometers). While this is true if you measure from sea level, it's an incorrect assumption when measuring from Mount Everest's summit—which is higher than Chimborazo by 300 meters. In fact, you can get much closer with a measurement taken at any point along Earth's surface.
  • At 6268 m (20559 ft), it remains one of only three mountains on Earth over 6000 meters high whose summits are still covered in snow for most of their year-round existence.

Georgia is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. It is bounded to the west by the Black Sea, to the north by Russia and Armenia, to the south by Turkey and Azerbaijan; in its eastern part lies Lake Sevan (Sevana), one of Europe's largest highland lakes. Georgia lies between latitudes 41° and 47° N, and longitudes 39° and 43° E.

The capital Tbilisi is known as "the city of roses" due to many gardens along its streets; it was also known as "the city of 1001 nights" during Soviet times because it had so many night clubs.

In addition to being very beautiful, Georgia is also very interesting with its rich history that goes back thousands of years when it was first settled by humans migrating from Asia into Europe during this period called "Mesolithic".
