The Green Bay Packers original colors were Brown and Gold. Not Green and Gold, which is a common misconception.
The Brown uniforms are still around, but Gold has been absent from the helmets since 1949.
At that time, Head Coach Lisle Blackbourn didn't want to risk a color clash with the Chicago Bears of the All-America Football Conference (The NFL's competitor at the time now known as the AFC), so he ordered green helmets to be manufactured for the following season.
