The lower edge of Starry Night is nearly still. Cypress black and blue-black mountains create enough weight for the sky above them to feel restless rather than merely decorative.

Cobalt carries the circular motion, followed by a paler blue trail. Ochre gives the moon substance, while lemon yellow makes the stars pulse as small, concentrated events inside a much larger field of night.
