Hydration. White anhydrous copper sulfate becomes bright blue after water enters the crystal structure; Royal Blue records that visible change.

Chemistry. Purple gives potassium permanganate an unmistakable laboratory presence, while Yellow recalls elemental sulfur in its solid state.

Reflection. Forest Green represents the light returned by chlorophyll instead of the red and blue wavelengths it absorbs.
