Blue Fairy

The Blue Fairy helps bring Pinocchio to life in the familiar Disney story. Her glowing blue gown supplies the main color. Pale fabric and translucent wings give the design a light, glowing appearance.

Princess Luna

Princess Luna is Celestia’s younger sister in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Her blue coat, crescent-moon mark and dark accessories suit her connection with the night. The lighter coat shown here differs from her darker, starry-maned appearance later in the series.

As Nightmare Moon, she is banished to the moon for a thousand years. Twilight Sparkle and her friends restore her as Luna when she returns.

Captain Planet

Blue skin, green hair, red gloves and boots: Captain Planet’s palette is hardly shy. A yellow globe sits on his chest. The five Planeteers summon him by combining their powers in Captain Planet and the Planeteers, an environmental adventure series.

Grouchy Smurf

Grouchy wears the familiar white hat and trousers of the Smurfs. His blue face and arms stand out against the white clothes. Papa Smurf wears red, which helps tell the two apart. Grouchy doesn’t need a new outfit to look unimpressed.

Road Runner

Road Runner races through the desert while Wile E. Coyote’s plans fall apart behind him. Dark blue on the head and tail contrasts with the lighter blue body. His long orange legs add a warm accent beneath the blue feathers. Beep beep, and he’s already out of frame.

Latios

Latios is a dragon-type Pokémon with a second type, Psychic. In its standard form, blue covers the wings and lower body, while white runs across the head and chest. The small red triangle on its chest interrupts that large blue-and-white arrangement.

Sonic

Sonic the Hedgehog pairs blue quills with red shoes and white gloves. The red shoes remain visible below the blue body and white gloves.

Cookie Monster

Cookie Monster is one of Sesame Street’s Muppets, usually seen as a furry blue puppet. White eyes and a wide black mouth break up the fur without adding much color. In a drawing, the shaggy outline matters almost as much as the blue.

Periwinkle

Periwinkle is the kitten from Blue’s Clues. His coat leans toward blue-violet, with lighter areas around his muzzle and belly. He sits closer to the periwinkle color family than the stronger blue used for Sonic.

Golduck

Golduck’s blue body is almost uninterrupted until the cream bill and red forehead gem. Its pointed head and webbed hands give it a sharper outline than Psyduck. Golduck is a Water-type Pokémon.

Dragonair

A pale blue back and white underside follow the length of Dragonair’s slender body. Darker blue orbs appear at its neck and tail, while small white wing-like ears frame the head. Dragonair is a Dragon-type Pokémon in the Dratini–Dragonair–Dragonite line. Its long, pale body makes a useful contrast with the smaller, rounder designs among other blue Pokémon.

Squirtle

Squirtle balances a light blue head and limbs with a brown shell and cream belly. The shell’s divided plates add a pattern without covering the blue skin. The Squirtle palette brings those cool and warm areas together. This Water-type Pokémon evolves into Wartortle, then Blastoise.

Merlin

The Merlin pictured here is Arthur’s teacher in Disney’s The Sword in the Stone. His blue robe and pointed hat form one broad color shape. A long white beard runs down the front, with small warm touches in his face and hands.

Toucan Sam

Toucan Sam, the Froot Loops mascot, has a blue body and a much louder bill. Yellow, orange and red bands curve across it in the version shown here. Darker feathers on the head and tail keep the body from becoming one flat patch of blue.

Blueberry Muffin

Blueberry Muffin belongs to Strawberry Shortcake. This version has long blue hair, a blue outfit and green-and-white striped tights. The narrow stripes contrast with the broad, unbroken area of her hair.

Rainbow Dash

Rainbow Dash is a blue Pegasus from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, one of the show’s central friends. Her rainbow mane and tail place several saturated colors against a single light-blue coat.

Largest color area: the blue body.
Striped accents: the rainbow hair.
Small symbol: a cloud and multicolored lightning bolt.

Grumpy Bear

Grumpy Bear comes from Care Bears. A white belly patch holds a rain-cloud badge, surrounded by blue fur. The cloud and falling hearts make a small pattern inside that pale circle. His shade varies between versions, from softer gray-blue to a brighter blue.

Lyssa Drak

Lyssa Drak belongs to DC’s Sinestro stories. She is a comic-book example here, with cool blue-violet skin rather than a bright cartoon blue. Black hair and dark clothing dominate the image, leaving the skin and yellow details as smaller accents.

Gusto Gummi

Gusto is the artist in Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears. Light blue fur sits beside a warm brown tunic and red neckwear. His yellow hair adds another small warm patch near the face.

Stitch

Stitch, or Experiment 626, is the blue alien from Lilo & Stitch. Around his head, the colors fall into three areas:

Blue fur covers most of the head.
Darker blue surrounds the eyes and nose.
Pink-purple fills the large inner ears.

The Stitch colors collection brings those shades together.

Dory

Dory is the blue tang from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. A black pattern runs along her blue body, and the yellow tail supplies a bright warm accent. The black area has a shape of its own, rather than simply outlining the fish.

Sulley

James P. Sullivan, better known as Sulley, is the large furry monster from Monsters, Inc. His coat leans turquoise. Separate purple spots scatter across his shoulders, back and limbs, with cream horns and pale claws as small neutral details.

Boo Berry

Boo Berry is General Mills’ blue ghost cereal mascot. His pale blue body has no legs, ending in a floating tail. A yellow hat with a red band and a red bow tie adds warm color near his face.

Blue M&M

The Blue M&M character is built around a rounded blue shell. White gloves, shoes and the letter m leave most of that surface visible. Dark eyebrows and half-closed eyes add expression with very little extra detail. See the other shells alongside blue in our M&M colors guide.

Beast — Beauty and the Beast

This is the Beast from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. His brown fur frames a formal blue coat. White fabric and gold trim separate the coat from his mane.

Buster Bunny

Buster is the blue rabbit from Tiny Toon Adventures, also seen in Tiny Toons Looniversity. Blue ears and fur surround a white muzzle and belly. His red shirt gives the cool body a bold warm block, with pink inside the ears as a smaller accent.
