Light Pastel Colors begins with surface, not symbolism. Rose Dust, Peach Chalk, and Butter Powder feel gently deposited on paper; Mint Dust, Blue Paper, and Lilac Veil continue the same dry softness across the cooler half.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art explains that traditional pastel combines ground pigment, a white mineral filler, and very little binder. Fine powder reflects diffuse light from its many facets, producing the medium's characteristic velvety, matte presence.
