Victorian Color Palette

Victorian color did not come from one source. Bronze green, peacock blue, purple-red, and gold accumulated across wallpaper, painted wood, textiles, and ornament, often within the same room.

Chemistry made the period brighter and riskier. Arsenic greens entered decorative surfaces, while Mauveine introduced a landmark synthetic purple to fashion. The palette places inherited taste beside industrial novelty.
